Such an original and beautiful way to tell a story. I never thought so much about why writers write, or why I read. It's an experience to savour. Bewildering as it was brilliant, magical as it was bleak, touching as it was discomforting.

Esse livro me dói. É um final do acaso, mas sabemos que esse acaso que levou à esse final trágico para Macabéa é condicionado pelas condições materiais da época. Mas, é um das personagens da literautura que eu mais me simpatizo, eu amo sua complexidade mostrada na simplicidade de suas palavras. É um livro agonizante porque te faz ficar brava, mas são coisas que acontecem todos os dias com aqueles que são pobres.

forgot to log this LOL such a thought provoking book maybe 4.5 stars? i need to read it again and like acc devote time to each page so i can fully comprehend what the author is trying to say. i finished the book the way i look at romantic era paintings like i can tell its a masterpiece but i have NO idea what the artist is getting at
