3.5 stars - I very much enjoyed this novella. I have never read anything by this author before but the story sounded intriguing. One of the main things I liked about this was the world/setting. Granted we only get a brief look as this is a novella, but it just seemed like such an interesting world. The characters were also well written, and I wouldn't mind more stories with them in this world. Overall I really enjoyed this novella and I would recommend it.

This reads more like the start of a novel than a stand-alone novella, but it made me want to read that novel for sure. Really interesting characters and world-building.

I'm not sure what I expected from this book, but it wasn't what I got. I feel like I barely got a taste of this story and then it was over.

MORE PLEASE! Every character we meet, especially the bastard brat herself, Stisele, but even her much brattier royal sibling, Jrene, left me wanting to see more of them. The brief bits of the world we get to see here left me want to see so much more of it. (Like Stisele, I want to see all of the world.) Absolutely snapping good fantasy.
