thanks to a friend who lent this to me, i found the perfect little coffee book that is introductory, but not surface level. this was such an enjoyable read and the graphics paired alongside the chapters only enhanced the experience :) highly recommend to anyone who is trying to get into coffee or learn more about it!

Went to Powell’s today and came across this book. Thought, “Hey! That’s really interesting. This would make a great gift! But for who? I know! ME!”

5 out of 5. Short 125 pages with lots of illustrations (you can read it in an hour or two) but full of really great basic information about origins, brewing, culture and evolution. They referenced another book I’ve put on my list that sounds like the guns, germs and steel of coffee so expect to hear about that soon. Otherwise, an enjoyable primer on this essential beverage.

Also, expect to get this passed to you at some point this year for you to enjoy also. (Everyone but Cyndi)

A great little book that can be read in one sitting, preferably in a coffee shop. Agree with the rules as pretentious as some might be, but that’s the price to pay for great coffee anyway.

Whether you work in coffee or appreciate your local coffee shop, you should read this book. Informative, fun and a great book to gift.

represents a part of coffee culture that i dislike

not a bad book--would be perfect for a foot-in-the-door coffee lover--but it just felt icky to read. maybe a little too pretentious, the pop-coffee phrasing, corporate illustrations, idk idk

these guys def know their stuff, and good on them at pointing out some of the darker sides of the industry (service, colonial roots, &c) but i did not love reading it

would be a perfect book to display at a Blue Bottle (pejorative)
