Elegant and sweet.

Was not expecting such a sad ending. This was a really good read and I related to a lot of it especially the way that she saw herself when she was younger. Her relationship with nature was also particularly relatable (I wish I could spend my summers in the French countryside). I thought the story was unnecessarily drawn out at certain points but overall a very important read for me.

this is probably my favorite book I have ever read.
Simone de Beauvoir is so beautifully putting her thoughts into words and expressing her feelings, this is what makes the book truly great in my opinion. Her experience of adolesence and figuring out herself is portrayed masterfully. I felt as if I was in Paris in the 30s myself while reading this, experiencing for the first time falling in love, dreading life, immense incertainty and every other emotion one stumbles across during childhood or teenage years.
