I really wanted to like this book more since I adore otters, however it quickly became a repetitive story of otters eating, fighting, playing, fending off predators. This repeated over and over again. I finally skimmed the last third of the book.

If I ever pick this book up again, I'm asking my friends to either smack me a couple times and remind me how much I hated it the first time around, or snatch it from my hands and throwing it into a pit of fire.

Yeah....I didn't like it.

This was beautifully written, with lots of wonderful descriptions of nature and the countryside. But it's incredibly brutal, violent in places, and very sad. My boyfriend bought me this thinking it was a cute otter story (as I love otters) but it was really upsetting and quite graphic!
