This story was awesome, honestly better then I was expecting and I already came in with high expectations based on the description. The art? Great! The characters? Great! Pacing? Great! World building? Great! I'm officially all caught up with the web comic so now I'll just be waiting for the Tuesday/Friday updates.

I've been reading this webcomic for a few weeks now and didn't know it had a physical book! I like it a lot, there's a ton of diversity in almost every way you can think of. Also as someone who dramatically cut her hair quite a few times after graduating high school, this is oddly validating.

I read this for the 2020 Reading Rush, so I devoured it too fast for me to be able to write a very well worded review on it. Just know that interesting concepts like using hair to show the power someone has will always get me hooked into a series. I will definitely be reading more on the website. I loved the art style as well. Give it a try if you like comics and/or fantasy!

This is a great start to something that will be a fantastic series, I'm sure. There is lots of intrigue and suspense. The world building is great and the magic system is very interesting. I look forward to learning more about this world and how the magic works, and I look forward to learning more about our main character Nyneve!

'Witchy' with art and story by Ariel Slamet Ries is a graphic novel full of beautiful art and an unusual world.

In the kingdom of Hyalin, the length of your hair determines how powerful your magic is, but grow it too long and you can be declared an enemy of the state. Nyneve lost her father years ago, and now hides the length of her hair using a spell. She attends a school that wants to recruit her, but she wants nothing to do with that. She does something unthinkable and is on the run.

I really liked this world and it's pretty good world-building. I loved the art which has a fluid and colorful style that drew me in on just about every page. The style is kind of minimal, but that works well to its advantage.

I received a review copy of this graphic novel from Lion Forge, Diamond Book Distributors, and NetGalley in exchange for an honest review. Thank you for allowing me to review this graphic novel.
