This book just did not hold my attention at all. I wasn't really a fan of the writing style, and the mystery just didn't keep me interested. I have not picked this book up in several weeks now, and I haven't been interested in doing so either. I think this book definitely can be enjoyed by some, I can see why people would find it a fun read, but unfortunately it just didn't do it for me. I'd probably rate it 2 stars if I had finished the book, depending on how it ended.

An incredibly fun and quick read. The pacing, humor, and writing is excellent. It puts me in mind of like “poor man’s” Knives Out. Can’t wait to continue reading Jimmy Cooper’s story, I feel like it can only get better as we learn more about him and other characters.

Sometimes you just want a book that's like junk food for your brain.
Jimmy Cooper bumbles his way through the investigation and makes quite a mess of things, clues build up at a reasonable pace and the who-dun-it reveal made for a satisfying ending.
The book delves into serious issues like murder, addiction and family drama, but keeps a humorous tone through out and skips the gristly details so it manages not to be dark and depressing.
( I won this book in a giveaway held on storygraph.)

I really enjoyed this. It was easy to read, even with English as my second language, a fun story with likable (although somewhat stereotypical) characters and a good pace: fast and to-the-point enough to not get boring, but still not too fast or confusing to follow the plot.
It was not as tense or mysterious as I'd expect most P.I. novels to be. Despite touching on darker subjects such as downsides of fame, addiction or family feuds, the book kept a light tone, which added to an (imo) overall lighter atmosphere.

Take the love child of Archer and Veronica Mars and you get Jimmy Cooper, a PI with daddy and mommy issues, who a real dick (pun intended). A quick, entertaining read, with relatable characters in scenes written in such a way you can really watch it play out as you read.

I won my copy through a Storygraph giveaway, and I’m very strongly considering getting the sequel.
It’s brain candy of a book, and honestly I liked it more than I thought I would.

This was a solid, fun, popcorn read. I received this book as a prize from Storygraph and received right as I was ready for something quick and light. This is a silly, fun, PI/detective novel.
