I am so disappointed about this book because I really thought I was going to love this book because I have only heard good things about this book and it gets so much hype but it just felt so and I mean painfully flat, like I was supposed to believe that the two main characters actually liked not even fancied each other because I fucking don't, these girls had no and I mean zero amount of chemistry. I just found this book really dull and boring and I was actually trying to like it and I don't think it all of it was shit but I think about 90% of it was because I did think there were just some fun moments but there was just something missing that just made me really dislike the story, it was just flat, flat and even more fucking flat. I also just thought that the two main characters were fucking awful why would you go to a party with your ex when the girl you are dating has told you that she actually likes you and you told her that you actually like her like I just couldn't cope with this book and their shit.

Also, the problem wasn't just with the two main characters and main romance, it was just the writing in general, all the side characters just gelled into one person like I didn't know who was talking or who anyone was until about 90% mark of this book and by that point, I just didn't give a shit anymore. I am also going to be a petty bitch for a minute like can queer books stop with the Harry Potter reference and let's just say the word Lesbain not 'little gay Ginny Weasley because that shit was not a hate crime.

I do think this book tried to talk and discuss problems that queer people and queer women face but there are just so many different books that just do it so much better, there is nothing that makes this book stand out. It is nothing new or special about this book and I really don't time it is worth your people or time. Like I did think the book has a cute ending but this book gave me fucking nothing.

'You would think, based on the fact that I've watched the Say Anything... boom box scene a million times, that I wouldn't have bumblebees in my stomach when my cheerleader girlfreind reenacts it for me in the school parking lot. You would be wrong.'-Chapter Nineteen

Fake dating is always top tier and this was done well. Both characters had their reasons for agreeing to this relationship. Irene, our love interest, I love her! She's literally nothing like any other love interest I've read before so self-assure and confidence. I wish this book was co-written so I could read Irene (a desi, cheerleader who is an academic?? )
Scottie's character development and getting over her ex is perfect. The communication in this story got better as the story went on (I dont like the miscom trope)
