slow-paced
  • Strong character development? It's complicated
  • Diverse cast of characters? No
This simply isn’t for me. I can recognize the immeasurable influence LOTR has had on western fantasy, but I don’t have to like this story. Tolkien’s priorities as an author simply are not my priorities as a reader.

Andy Serkis gives an INCREDIBLE performance in this book. Absolutely inspiring. It doesn’t matter how small the line, how minor the character, how long the song, he gives every word 110+%. If you want to read LOTR, I cannot recommend this audio enough.

Such a classic story of good working together to triumph over evil. I love the characters and how they interact. The beautiful world Tolkien has created is such a joy to visit and revisit. Tom Bombadil is one of my favorite characters. Loved listening to the audio version, hearing the music and singing.

Meh, even reading this as an audiobook I'm not getting the vibes I want. I'm going to finish the series to say that I've read it but I'm not even close to being obsessed.
