A beautifully haunting story about three young kids running from danger for a chance to hope and dream. Pulga, Chico, and Pequena embark on a gruelling and dangerous trip from their homeland all the way to the United States.What these children had to endure broke my heart in a million pieces. It explores how horrible people can be and sometimes how emphatic some people can be. Definitely a story that will stay with me for a while.

The emotional journey I went through reading this book merits recognition, the characters tragic backstory that drove them to leaving their home, absolutely gutting.

All of this was SO good. OWN voice author, the characters, the plot. Beautiful and difficult and is one I will be purchasing to keep on my shelves. For anyone who says they appreciate Am. d*rt, I will then refer them to this book as I think THIS was the one that should have gotten the press. Gah, I loved it.
