This book started with a bang, but quickly fell short.
I was beyond frustrated with both of these main characters. I felt like I didn’t connect, and I didn’t feel like their back story was put together all that great. I also felt super sorry for Felicia, which I think was not the authors intent. I think Zach treated her terribly for being in a years long relationship with her, and then just throws her out and a few weeks later is kissing Presley right in front of her and asking her to make hotel accommodations for them.
Unfortunately I had high expectations for this book, and I was really let down.

cw suicide, slut shaming
Alright, I'm putting the nail in the coffin. Corinne Michaels is not for me. It took me nine books to realize this because her writing is superb.
However, there have been a few persistent issues that have stuck with me this entire time. Namely, slut shaming. There are a few instances in these books where the male lead had a previous relationship with someone, or the female lead's ex cheated on her -- all of those women are referred to as whores and sluts. Every time. Without fail. In this book, he literally cheats on his current girlfriend and it's okay because she's the town bitch? They were together for five years, I don't care how mean she is, she doesn't deserve the treatment she gets. Women need to uplift women, and this doesn't happen in these books so I can't read them anymore.
Writing is good though.

ANGST…OH MY GOD THE ANGST.
zach & presley were highschool sweethearts destined to be together until zach leaves her *sigh*
17 years pass and tragedy strikes presley’s life again forcing her to move back to her hometown with her two kids and leaving her no choice but to face the man who broke her heart all those years ago
this book is second chance romance that will make you want to cry and claw your eyeballs out or at least that’s how I felt lol
seeing zach & presley realize that they never fell out of love is such a beautiful thing, you can see that no matter the time that passed they were always meant to be
I cannot wait for the rest of the series
up next Wyatt and Angie
