This one seems to be back on track sex-wise. It was a bit difficult to reconcile Del Rey and his coyotes as good guys. Makes me want to read back and see what I missed since Leigh fairly consistently writes this particular breed as bad. I felt as though we jumped over years of cooperation since Mercury's War since Christmas Heat had nothing to do with Haven.

“Never dare a coyote,” they say, but I call bullshit.

Delgado was challenged every two minutes by Anya.

Also can I just emphasize how utterly disappointed I am? I’ve been so overwhelmed with work , and I finally got a few moments off to read full length novels again, and suddenly all I can pick up are ridiculous, senseless books like these?

I started this book because I thought there would be actually authentic development between the characters.

Guy hurts your dad and takes you away.

• Wow, will you forgive or not?
• How do you forgive that?
• How will the guy repent?
• What are the ramifications on the relationship?
• How can guy possibly redeem himself from that?

What did I get?

He smacks his lips on hers immediately after shooting the girl’s dad

and then they have sex a few minutes after.

I-I-I can’t... I can’t even begin to explain where the disappoint stems from....

Maybe from the way they made Delgado such a picturesque tough-Alpha guy who hates greeting his friends (cause what kind on wimp says hi to his mates?), who acts so aggressive and forceful ( “I need a kiss. One kiss. Just one of your kisses” five minutes after killing her DAD uhm beg much? ), and who is just a cardboard cut out of the hundred other macho Alpha bois we read about?

Or maybe from the fact that Anya, the heroine, forgives Delgado because she can’t help that she is so horny. Seriously, Delgado just goes off about Anya’s scent and her coochie, and how he can’t be without his mate.

It’s purely sexually based. There is no moment of companionship, free from sexual feelings, with them.

I am devastated, truly.

This has to be my favourite breed book. I love del-rey with his arrogate manly alpha character. I loved to read more about Brim n jax.

Did I enjoy this book? It was fine.

Why? Shifter, alpha, kinda rejected mate - enemies to friends to enemies to lovers (there's a lot going on), and finally found family. Don't hate any of those. I listened to the audiobook and the narrator was pretty good, that definitely helped.

Why not 5 stars? Honestly, I think I want to rate this more like 2.5 because if I wasn't listening to this during my drive to and from work, I may not have finished it yet. I don't think I would've DNF'd it, but it would linger in my Kindle library. Also, the story is maybe a bit longer than it needed to be BUT on the other hand the rollercoaster relationship the author was going for probably required the extra fluff. ANYWAYS...didn't hate but def didn't love.

Also, I have not read any of the other books in this series - this was a total mood snag when I downloaded it.

Is it spicy? Yes, also check TW.
Is it smutty smut smut? Once the two MCs stop acting like alley cats defending their dumpsters, yes it gets wild.

I feel like a broken record with this series but this is definitely one of my favorites!
Two equally strong characters battling for trust, control and love.
Very awesome!
