I loved this story. I think it's a great introduction for kids to an amazing woman. I want to read more about her. This book is on the list for 3-4th graders for the Battle of the Books. It's definitely a quick, easy one that pretty much any kid could read. I loved all the colorful pictures, and would like to have this book for my home collection.

A beautifully colorful book about Mary Blair, one of the first women hired by the Walt Disney Studios and the first woman to design art for Disney.

She's one of my heroes, so naturally I'm a little biased, but I absolutely loved this book. There's so much color and detail. Blair's story is inspiring and I'd recommend it to anyone, but especially young women who need a little inspiration to never give up on their dreams or let someone tell them they can't do something because they're a girl.

I'm honestly surprised at how I knew hardly anything about Mary Blair--the artist and designer of the iconic Disney ride It's A Small World!  This biography details her journey through college and entering the workforce, only to be regarded as too visionary (read: female).  But somebody saw her for exactly as she was--talented, hard-working, imaginative.  And that somebody was Walt Disney himself, who granted her full reign on the project.

Guglielmo and Tourville do a fantastic job of describing her life, and Barrager honors Blair's knack for colors by including only the most vibrant, brilliant hues there are.

Lovely little tale of the pioneering artist Mary Blair. Note: no mention of her alcoholism.

Beautifully illustrated biography about Mary Blair, a woman who worked for Disney as an artist. This story celebrates discovery, imagination, and creativity. I loved learning about how she designed It’s A Small World. Also, a great book for teaching color vocabulary.

Did you know that Mary Blair was the lead designer for Disney World's It's a Small World boat ride?⁣

She also did some design work for Disney movies, Cinderella and Peter Pan. ⁣

Do you remember Little Golden Books? Well, she illustrated some of those as well!⁣

My students enjoyed this book.⁣ They instantly bought in when they found out she worked for Disney.

This picture book biography is lacking in biography. It starts out interesting, but it takes so long to list various colors it deadens the rest of the story. The artwork is great, and the authors note at the end was way more informative than the pages of the book. I like this book, but it could’ve been done better.

This is a wonderful biography of Mary Blair! The colors in this book match the artist's own. This is a great biography for tweens, and one that parents can learn a lot from as well. The writing is good and the illustrations are wonderful!

What a BEAUTIFUL book. I love sharing the story of one of the first women to work for Disney. And all of the different names for colors is an excellent learning tool!!
