This was nothing special. It was a good thriller and it was pretty interesting to read. I haven’t read something like it before but I’m in SUCH a reading slump right now and this did not help much. There are definitely a few unsuspecting twists though. Loved the short chapters as well there was just a lot going on all the time

7 year old Zach Murdoch is missing and his parents who are crime writers are immediately the prime suspects. With the media and social platform involved Cameron and Lisa have a tough job trying to prove their innocence while also trying to find out what has happened to their son.

A well written with skillfully drawn characters and a tightly woven plot filled with twists and turns especially at the end made The Quiet People by Paul Cleave a compelling read for me.

I would like to thank the TBC Reviewers request group & the author for providing an ARC of this book in exchange for my honest and fair review

I'm not usually keen on writers writing stories about writers but this book was an exception. It's about a married couple who write crime thrillers who find themselves suspected of being the kind of people they write about when their son goes missing. To say any more would spoil the plot but it's a good premise and Paul Cleave does a superb job of pushing this idea to some dark and twisted places. I particularly enjoyed how the story didn't go in the direction I expected and it felt more original and thought through than a lot of similar books in this genre. The short chapters and snappy pace made this book a proper page-turner and a compulsive read that I thoroughly enjoyed.

I thought I wrote this review, but I guess I just did it in my head! The main thing that bugged me listening to this book was the main character’s conversations with “Mr. What-if.” I know this was a vehicle to let us hear his thoughts, but I found myself hating it and often doubting the thoughts were at all realistic. Definitely had to suspend realistic thinking to follow all his conclusion jumping.

I really enjoyed this mystery/thriller. It had a lot of interesting twists and turns and I was never sure who to suspect. I do think the crime writer aspect could have been played on a lot more and than the switches between first person for Cameron and third person for other characters was a bit jarring at times. It was well written and thought out and I was genuinely happy with the ending.

This book had me in tears at one point because of what was occurring but a few hours later shocked and needing to read as fast as possible to understand what was going on. Definitely a page turner

I really enjoyed the storyline of this. From the beginning you jump right into the story, there’s no slow build up which helps keeping the book fast paced. Includes twists and turns (I definitely didn’t predict the ending).
