This was such a delight to read. Gideon is so fun and quite literally the “perfect rake”. And with everything Prue has gone through, you can’t help but want the best for her. I wish the ending had been a bit more stretched out and there’s no epilogue, but I hope we get to see Prue and Gideon as a couple in the following books of the series.

CW: Domestic abuse

Story about a heroine who will do whatever it takes to keep her sisters safe. Recommended by romance author Ally Blake, the characters were well developed and realistic. The tale was really well crafted, switching points of view seamlessly.

I’m going to go 4.5. I feel like I should have loved it more than I did but I found I found easily put it done minus this amazing action scene near the end (the best scene written scene imo). I also found at time while the very good the narrator got a bit too dramatic at times. Otherwise this book was top notch. Anne Gracie took tropes such as the rake and made them her own. While a rake on the outside Gideon had a secret heart of gold and the relationship between the protagonists was beautiful. This book got dark at times and there was one adult theme I didn’t expect but the maturity just made it more enjoyable to me. I would highly recommend this book to anyone looking for a less cookie cutter historical romance.

When you've just survived
violence and abduction
and are down to shag. My girl had a mission and i gotta respect her.

But damn the book was darker than expected. Make sure to check the trigger warnings before reading.

Goddd I am loving this author! This outshines almost all HR I've read, the tensions and build up is unreal and the complexities of their woven webs of deceit and honour are so beautifully laced. I wished only for this book to be longer - our FMC and MMC deserved just a few more pages of HEA. Gideon is probably one of my favourite, if not my all time favourite, MMC's due to his, well, everything. And the FMC is interesting and has quality characteristics that are valued. This isn't a lust match - this is a LOVE match and they take their sweet time. He falls first and he falls HARD.

*this story has a darker tone and isn't the pick for a feel good heartwarmer, but the ending is sugar sweet*

Longer review to come… because this deserves it. One of my favorite HRs yet. It had me smiling and laughing… and I always respect an author that readily admits her heroine is plain. It was a nice change of pace in an HR, where the heroine may not be the belle of the ball but is still quite an amazing catch. And Gideon is just a gem
