Here Comes the Witch is book one in the Main Street Witches series by Ani Gonzalez.

I picked this up as a freebie. I was looking for a fun cozy mystery with some magic, but I just couldn’t get into the story and romance.

It’s got a lot of pop culture references and one-liners. I din’t realize this was a spinoff from the Banshee Creek series, until I read a few reviews. I haven’t read the Banshee Creek series. Not sure if you need to before picking this one up.

I didn’t care for the set up ‘mystery’ aka curse. We put two people together who don’t know each other and they get married on the first day they see each other to try and break the curse.

Liam and Kat were inconsistent. They knew everything about everything until they didn’t. It just didn’t click with me.

The romance was blah. I never connected to either Kat and Liam. The author was trying to build sexual tension, but for me she didn’t pull it off.

Her Comes the Witch didn’t capture me. If the blurb intrigues you, I urge you to give it a shot. Just because it did not work for me does not mean it won’t for you.

While I enjoy a wide variety of fiction, including paranormal, I tend to stay away from stories about witches. I just haven't really enjoyed those that I've read. So when it came to reading this I was really torn because I've read others in the Banshee Creek series & have really enjoyed them, so I took a chance. I'm glad that I did! I found it really light and fast-paced & overall a lot of fun. My major criticism though is that after all of the ghosty-witchy happenings, it just tied up too quickly & neatly for me. I kept expecting it to be almost a trick.

Short, sweet, and fun. I immediately bought the rest of the series - something about the urban fantasy genre is so addictive!

If you're in need of a light-hearted, quick Halloween read, Here Comes the Witch by Ani Gonzalez may be the perfect fit. I was laughing within the very first paragraph and my enjoyment didn't abate for the remainder of the book. This is the first cozy mystery I recall reading, and now I wonder why I didn't try the genre sooner. I love horror and mystery thrillers, but it was nice to take a break from the darkness. Not that there weren't any chills or sorrow here. The plot revolved around the breaking of a mildly spooky curse, and how that curse came to be was as sad as it was unnerving.

There was a great mix of creepiness, romance, and humor. The humor did dominate the story, but that's what I'd hoped for. As for the characters, they were quirky and fun. I wouldn't say they were particularly deep or complex, but they were believable and entertaining enough to get me to root for them. The mystery aspect was exactly as I expected: There were interesting clues strewn throughout the story, but they weren't hard to piece together. I recommend Here Comes the Witch to adults and mature young adults who are interested in a light mystery with a strong focus on humor and magic.

Trigger Warning: Contains some themes of violence, murder, and suicide.

A light fun read. It's a read for those who've read any of the other books set in Banshee Creek. The mention of Abby and Mike from Must Love Ghosts was great. And Cole makes an appearance :)

Mix of cosy mystery and PNR romance.

Kat has finally got her jewellery shop and is about to end a curse that has plagued her family for generations. But she never figured on sharing her familys home with a complete stranger! And just why does she have to pretend to be married to this handsome but infuriating man!?!?!?!

With a ghostladen town touted to the occult tourists and a lovely romance between Kat and Liam, there is something for everyone. The towns ghostly inhabitants seem to be almost "normal" whilst those contained within the house are downright nasty!!

I received the review copy of this book from the author in return for an honest review

Fun magical adventure!

Great characters, Quirky little town, and Sass to spare, what more could I want?! Good laughs, a bit of mystery and some romance round out the fun.

I really enjoyed this book! So much, I bought the entire series. Then I tealized it was actually the Banshee Creek series I bought, not the Main Street Witches series. So the I bought that series, too! I love this town and can't wait to read them all!

Thanks to the author and Lola's Blog Tours for a copy of this book to review!

This book is billed as a 'paranormal cozy mystery', and I definitely got the “cozy” feeling. It’s a cute book that ended up being a very mild ghost story. It is a romance but more restrained in those themes than most, a good thing for those you who don’t like romances (me!). I’m not sure the genre really suits it but it’s a cute story about a cute town with a bit of a ghost problem.

I ended up enjoying this book much more than I expected! While the writing wasn't particularly strong, each character felt fully developed. There seem to be many more books in this series with a different character in focus so you can get a fuller understanding of this crazy town!
