If you're a die-hard Tortall lover then you may want to invest in this companion, if only for the little bits you see of "current" Tortall. Check out my full review over at Forever Young Adult.

A lot of good background information for the other books but no real story of its own.

A nice-to-have for fans of Tamora Pierce's world of Tortall. This is a collection of odds and ends, including character journal entries, guidebooks for spies, timelines, and more. It's not a novel, just a fun companion book for Pierce's fabulous fantasy world.

Of course, I love this. I have been waiting for it for years and it didn't disappoint. There is Tammy's normal humour, there are gorgeous pictures, the whole aesthetic of the book is fantastic. I literally teared up when I first opened it up and saw how gorgeous it was. It was so nice to get more information and tidbits from my beloved Tortall. We get to hear from favourite characters, and others we may not have heard from much before (like Thom and Wyldon). I just love this. I just finished and I want to read it again. I want to read all the Tortall books again now, or at least finish my re-read from earlier this year which got sidetracked by my massive TBR pile. I may have to do a Tortall January readathon, or just a Tamora Pierce readathon.

Definitely don't read this unless you've read the other Tortall books ... recently. This is what it says it is - a companion guide, with very little new story content, although lots of inside references and some parts which really are funny.

Not a lot of new information for those of us who have read and re-read and re-re-read (etc, etc) the books about Tortall, but a fun, quick peek behind the stories to give us a few extra details about some of the characters we know and love.

All I know is that, it doesn't matter which realm Ms Pierce is dabbling in...I will always ferret out her books. This guide has again wet my appetite for more of Tortall. Unfortunately, all of her books and I mean all (as I own every single one), is packed away at my father-in-laws. My modest apartment does hold only room for one bookcase (sacrilege I know), or I would reread them all. Hopefully within the next 3-4 years my dream home will be a reality. A reality that will hold a master bedroom sized library/craft space with wall to wall bookshelves. Till then this Bearycreativemom who's bearybookwormish will have to make due with the digital loan versions from her local library, 🙄😉.

Gifty package that tries hard to wow by being full-color. I liked the insider information (obviously) and really appreciated the drawings of the different Immortals. I think the parchment paper is a little hokey though and the trim is too big for a book this sort (that font? Please.) but they needed to justify it being $25. My parents definitely would have grumbled about that one, but I would have begged or bought it myself.

I didn't realize I needed to be more excited for Tempests and Slaughter, but here I am! Definitely more excited.

I didn't realize that I wanted a book like this until I read it. The first five pages were a total shocker, and it makes me want another story about the Lioness! So Tammy, if you happen to read my review, can we plllllleeeeeeaaassseeeeeeeee have another book about the Lioness?

There were some details in the book that were fun to find as I read through it. I also like the fact that they were declassified spy papers from George! He was one of my favorites when I read books set in Tortall and I'm glad to get something from his perspective.

I am forever hopeful that we will get more from the world of Tortall, because it was my childhood.
