I read an article about this funny, beautiful memoir by Tyra Banks and her mom, in which she said she was rejected by a modeling promotor over her weight (!?!), and her mom took her out for pizza and told her to make a plan and not to give up. So on a recent trip to the library I remembered about the book and there it was in the new acquisitions section.

Both Tyra and her mom share their stories, in a fun, back and forth format. It's almost like they're having a conversation with you as you read the book. I was a fan of Tyra's before, and now when I see how much she has rooted for individual girls and women to be confident in themselves, I admire her even more.

I enjoyed this one and it was a relatively quick and easy read, with lots of photos of different times in both women's lives. Highly enjoyable.

I think this book is exactly what I needed to hear. I’m at a point in my life where I’m just not sure where I’m going or who I am because of what society tells me. As a plus size girl, it’s hard to fit in. I love how honest Tyra and her mom are! It’s like having a big sister and a mom who are always there for you, but aren’t afraid to tell you the truth. Highly recommend this to anyone and everyone!

Light and fun read with some nuggets of wisdom - I recommend the audiobook version, since it's read by Tyra and her mom.

i read this book to fulfil the goal read a book written by two female authors. i have always liked tyra and her message of inner beauty and body acceptance. i admired the honesty and relationship portrayed between her and her mother. it is a little crude at times, but they do give you fair warning, and it is never vulgar. i wouldn't have a problem with a teenager reading if it they wanted to as its all stuff that i would want to tell them anyway.

A great read which is provides no holds barred conversation with Tyra Banks and her mom Carolyn. I enjoyed that each contributed in wag chapter which provides a balanced perspective from a young and an older woman.

I liked that no topic is off limits in this book whether they’re talking about awkward childhoods or period parties. This was an enjoyable, relatable read which makes the reader feel like a trusted friend and inspires them to become a better person and to embrace who they are, flaws and all.
