I read this book when I was 10 or 11. It left an impression on me, so that I still think of this book. A boy and girl survive a plane crash and find a baby that has survived. They persevere and push forward with their lives until they are finally rescued. It is a story of making the best out of one's situation and survival. I believe it helped me as a young child to survive after some traumatic incidents.

Considering the premise of this book initially sounded harrowing, it turned out to be a pretty wholesome read about 3 children surviving in an abandoned town in the French alps and creating a family unit for themselves. The way the mountain landscaped were described was really lovely.  There wasn't much depth to the story, but it was an enjoyable read nonetheless.
