Despite not being at all familiar with American football, this book was enjoyable because of all the football jargon. I appreciated the pacing and the different characters.

This was an entertaining, albeit fairly run of the mill, YA love /coming of age story. I did like the somewhat original premise of a tough girl protagonist who plays on the boys football team. Parts of the story felt a little disjointed, but I enjoyed it overall.

I am so glad that I picked up this book when I did. Needless to say, I found it to be magical as well as sports authentic. Liv’s family is supportive but tough and Grey is a phenomenal guy. I didn't feel like their relationship imploded in an attempt to bring drama to the story but that also maybe because I couldn't put this book down. I cannot wait to read some more from this author.

"She scored three touchdowns in a football game, against boys twice her size. Boys who have been playing for years. Boys who were extra motivated to kick her ass the second she put on her helmet. She's a freaking Disney movie, Dad."

Yes, this read like a Disney movie: pretty sappy and unrealistic but amazing characters you root for and a
Spoilerhappy ending to cry over. (I did not cry but got both that feeling of completion and unrealistic satisfaction that leaves me worried for people who think it is similar to the real world.

I'm not sure if a younger me would have loved it even more or been even more cynical. It was nice to read a feel-good book right now though. I might read it again when I need a pick-me-up.
