I think the reason I’m giving this a 3 and not a 4 is because I’ve read too many YA romance rollercoasters lately and this felt like all the rest. Not bad, but nothing special.

This book was very good for a teenage audience. There were a lot of relatable lines of dialogue and thought that made me very happy to have had the chance to read it! It gives teenagers the ability to see themselves and their thoughts within a lovable book character! I have nothing but praise for this book!!

This is the second book in Becky Albertalli’s Simonverse. I absolutely loved Simon vs. the Homosapiens Agenda and read it in 2-3 days but this one wasn’t quite as much of a hit. It took me longer to get into The Upside of Unrequited and it didn’t make me feel hooked until a good bit into the story. That being said, I did still enjoy this book and look forward to reading the last book in Simonverse next. The Upside of Unrequited, like Simon vs. the Homosapiens Agenda, had great representation and gave me a nostalgic feel.
