I thought I would enjoy this book a lot more than I did.
The plot, AMAZING! I love the cult idea, i love the aspects and the potential this story held. However It did not live up to its premise.

The characters were rushed, the plot felt unfinished. It was hard to follow at times when it would have flashbacks mid talk or like even the descriptions of characters. Blue hair to blonde, black to brunette, freshmen year to sophomore year. It really bothered me that the editing wasn't up to par.

Great idea, executed horribly.

This was gorgeous and heart-wrenching and genuinely touching. The characters grew and changed and the best part was I actually believed it.

Together We Rot is an atmospheric YA romance with some great supernatural elements. I did really enjoy this book (and that cover is gorgeous!), but I felt the shorter length was a detriment to the story. At less than 300 pages, there wasn’t a lot of time to build up the mythology of the town or get too much backstory from the characters. I would have loved to learn more about history of the Mourguewood and the Garden of Adam. All around, it was a pretty solid YA fantasy.
Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for an advanced copy of Together We Rot in exchange for my honest review.

TOGETHER WE ROT was lush, dark, soft, and frightening in so many ways. I fell in love with the characters by the end of the book and now find myself wishing for more. The end was both heart-warming and gut-punching. Arndt's writing is expertly engaging and moody, telling the story in a way that feels at once fast-paced and like a snapshot of a real, breathing world. I can't wait to read more from her. Thank you Viking/PRH for an ARC of this book, I'm honored!

PREORDER TWR NOW, GUYS! YOU WILL THANK ME LATER! AND YOU WILL LOOOOOOOOVE ELWOOD CLARKE.
