This might be my favorite issue so far. Loved that moment at the end, which obviously I can't say more about than that. But it was hilarious and iconic, as well as a bit epic.

Ok first of all,

You shouldn’t be that proud. It’s been bad guys. Really terrible, actually. A huge let down.

*Sigh* Yet another issue that takes place primarily in the past (just like [b:issue #3|43722560|Young Justice (2019-) #3|Brian Michael Bendis|https://images.gr-assets.com/books/1552088400s/43722560.jpg|68044310]). I know context is important. But stop flashing. Back. In. The. Middle. Of. Conflict.
One second the team are facing off against Opal in the present...

The next second we are witnessing a flashback that is exclusively about Tim. And the panel chosen to signal the flashback just made me laugh.

We were in the middle of a serious fight! And then boom two unknown people kissing outside of the Hall of Justice. How was I supposed to know that’s Tim? He looks so young like he’s a teenager maybe 15 or 16 but as soon as he dons the cape and mask he looks like he’s in his early 20s.

This was such a weird thing to say. I think it was supposed to be a reference to how Alfred calls them all master... I don’t know it’s just strange.

I loved this. Thank you for acknowledging Stephanie was Robin because not everybody does. And thank you for Robin Respect. I respect that.

Ok a serious problem, though. What is up with how [a:Bendis|12424|Brian Michael Bendis|https://images.gr-assets.com/authors/1239763230p2/12424.jpg] writes teen dialogue?? Why does he think this is something teens say:

Teens don’t say that kind of stuff! Or at least no teens I know say that.
And this:

Ugh. Not everyone can have the same quirky voice. That’s the kind of thing Impulse might say, not Wonder Girl. And I get that it’s cute and funny but please stop. It’s just weird. It sounds like what a 50 year old would think a “cool and hip” kid would say.

This was cool:

A cool tie-in! I love that. And I wonder what the [b:Wonder Twins|45173469|Wonder Twins (2019-) #4|Mark Russell|https://images.gr-assets.com/books/1555672659s/45173469.jpg|69882035] have been getting up to...

If I’m honest, I didn’t really understand what was going on in this issue. Why? No, I’m not stupid. There was some kind of reference happening here to what happened during the last Young Justice comics. But I haven’t read those. I didn’t think I would need to! So I was really confused and asking questions like:
why can’t Tim remember the Young Justice team?

References are fine. I like them, they show continuity. But it’s not enjoyable when 70% of the issue is a flashback referencing something that I don’t know about.

One thing I did really like was the dynamic between Tim and Stephanie. Was Stephanie’s inclusion in this issue necessary? No, not really. But I liked it. It was handled extremely well and she could be an interesting addition to the Young Justice team.

Buuuut the team is already pretty full. It’s bursting at the seams. Over-saturated. Well, hey, at least Teen Lantern got to say 3 lines this issue! I think that’s more than she’s said in any of the issues so well done [a:Bendis|12424|Brian Michael Bendis|https://images.gr-assets.com/authors/1239763230p2/12424.jpg]! A really COMPLEX character here! I know her name and everything (that was extremely sarcastic, I don’t know her name she hasn’t said it yet). My goal by the end of this arc is to learn her name. That’s it. That’s all I have planned. That’s how low my expectations are at this point.

So, I think that’s everything. What you’ve got here is a relatively mediocre issue. It wasn’t amazing and it wasn’t as atrocious as it could have been.
