I laughed out loud so many times, which I hardly ever do while reading. It was nasty and absurd, funny and witty, but also very raw and emotional. This one surprised me in the best way.

I have mixed feelings about this one. The Pisces is largely Lucy's inner monologue, which is often emotionally dense and thought provoking in its relationship to Sappho and mythology but it could also be haphazard and messy.

This book was uncomfortably sexual and often really gross, but I felt for the character and the absurdity of the monster fucking really pulled me in.

This is a weird book to say the least. I wonder if I didn't "get" this book. This was a book one of my friends enjoyed, but I didn't hear much more about it. There is romance but it is definitely not a romance novel. There's steam but also a lot of internal turbulence. There are parts that really got under my skin but there were interesting characters, and it was a quick read. I'd say if you want a summer read that's a bit different and shocking to read on the beach this could be it.

Edited after reading a bunch of romance novels.
