'Harry and Walter' by Kathy Stinson tells of an unusual but wonderful friendship. The cover got me to request it and I just loved it.

Harry and Walter are neighbors and best friends. They love driving their tractors and eating garden grown tomatoes and jumping in leaves. It doesn't even matter that Harry is four and three-quarters and Walter is ninety-two and a half. They are buddies and they love being together.

Until Harry discovers a 'for sale' sign on his front lawn and he is forced to move away from Walter. What can it mean for this friendship when all the things Harry loved to do with Walter just don't seem the same anymore?

This was a wonderful picture book. The illustrations by Qin Leng are fun and full of the exuberant action of a young child. The story by Kathy Stinson is heartwarming and endearing. I loved the message that friendship has no age and I loved both Harry and Walter. The book would be a good picture book for reading aloud.

I received a review copy of this ebook from Annick Press and NetGalley in exchange for an honest review. Thank you for allowing me to review this ebook.

There's not enough good things to say about this treasure.
Every 92 year old needs a Harry! And every four year old needs a Walter!
Enough to make you well up!

I received an ARC of this book from Annick Press via Netgalley in exchange for a review.

Harry and Walter are the best of friends, despite their age difference of 88 years. This sweet story follows all of fun times they have together before Harry moves away. Harry then has to cope with the change that has come into his life and what things are like now without Walter.

I thought this was a sweet little story. I liked the caring relationship between Harry and Walter and it was refreshing to see someone elderly in a story who was not related to the child. This is a wonderful way to show children that we can all have important people in our lives, even if their not related by blood. Walter and Harry demonstrate the best qualities of a friendship and I would certainly recommend this book to my kiddos.

This is such a sweet book. Walter and Harry are best friends. Walter is in his 90s and Harry is only a little kid. They do simple things together, and enjoy their company.

Then, Harry has to move.

This is a story of friendship and change. I love how in the end they find each other again.

True, in life, you don't always find your friends again, but sometimes things work out.

I think this is a good book for kids just because friendships are universal.

Thanks to Netgalley for making this book available for an honest review.

My heart fills with ache and joy each time I read this book. It's the poignant story of two best friends, Harry who is 4 3/4, and Walter who is 92 1/2. They live next-door and do all kinds of things together. They ride their tractors and play croquet.

They grow and eat tomatoes.

In the fall the two of them rake and jump in leaves.

In the winter they figure out how to be together and build snowmen.

Life is bliss.

Then one day Harry's parents decide to move. Harry is heartbroken. Walter is heartbroken. Walter tells Harry, "Things change. I might have to move someday too." They are both too sad to say a final goodbye.

At his new home Harry tries to do all those things that he and Walter once did together, but the joy has disappeared.

To find out how these two best pals can find a way to be together again, you will have to read the book.

This book. This book of a not so unlikely friendship has me longing for grandchildren. It leaves me nostalgic for my own special relationships with my own grandmothers and older aunts. It's sure to resonate with all those children who have their own special friendships with older people. I know my mother would have loved this.

Kathy Stinson's delightfully simple text is accompanied by illustrations created by Qin Leng. (I adore her work) Together, these two have created a book that will pull at your heartstrings.

Margaret Mead once said something to the effect that a you can tell a society is nearing it's end when it separates the old and the young. (sorry, I couldn't find the exact quote) This book reveals why keeping them together is so important. You must purchase it.
