Precious of course! Nice to see them growing up and dealing with increasingly mature things

this was my favorite of the series. alice oseman's writing just makes me feel so cozy and safe. i love these characters so much!! also, such a good portrayal of mental illness, and particularly the struggle and joy of asking and receiving help for it.

HEARTSTOPPER VOL 4 was so heartbreaking because we finally see Charlie admitting that he's been struggling with his mental health. It's hard to read but Oseman writes it so beautifully and I loved how much Nick supported Charlie. He listened, loved him, encouraged him to talk with his parents about getting some professional help, and ultimately accepted him no matter what. As heartbreaking as the first part was, it was nice to see Charlie doing a little bit better in the second part. Though I know the journey is not over and not all his days are good days, it was nice to see some happy moments. I also loved Charlie's sister in this one; she's simply the best for the way she stuck up for Charlie.

This volume was an emotional read. It delved deeper into some heavy topics, for both characters. I really loved Nick's talk with his mom about how love can't cure someone of their mental illness. We shouldn't go into relationships thinking we can fix people, but accept them as they are and support them through their difficulties. Even I needed reminding of this as an adult for my own relationship. It's a valuable lesson to learn as a teen. The reason why I didn't give this five stars is because I wanted a bit more from Charlie's perspective, given he's the character going through these serious life changes. Charlie's sister Tori is a savage and I love her as well, she had some good big sister moments in this volume. I look forward to reading the novel where she's the main character in the future.
