Might write a longer review later but I really really enjoyed this. The stories of the different women, the themes of traditions v change, women free of society etc. such fantastic storytelling.

This book is a necessary read in 2024, in my opinion. As a black reader, I felt so seen seeing how these issues for us are timeless and it made me want more for my community. The image of a patriarchal, all-black town is powerful and I think really hits the nail on the head of the misogynoir that exists in the black community.
