Angela Davis is brilliant. This work makes me want to be more of an activist than I am. This book is essentially a collection of speeches Angela Davis has given over the years and each one was different while somehow touching on the same topics throughout. Our world is so intertwined. If you want to work toward changing the status quo, start with this book.

This was such an interesting read. It’s always fascinating to view certain topics through various perspectives, especially those who are affected by the subjects of this book. This book introduced me to the idea of abolishing the prison system, which shocked me as I had never heard such topics being discussed before but interesting nonetheless. Although it did feel odd reading certain elements of the book 9 years after it was published, specifically palestinian elements. angela, at one point, said that Z!on!sm and !sr3al are losing their power, which is a stark opposition to the current state of the world.

Angela Davis speaks and writes so powerfully on justice and liberation and the importance of intersectional thinking when we consider what freedom means. This collection of interviews, speeches and essays provide a much-needed look on how every struggle around the world is connected and how true freedom can only come when all people are liberated.
