A fairly decent fantasy game book, enough to keep you entertained for a few hours when you're a kid.

By attempt 6 I did feel like Shaun of the Dead planning and replanning his journey to the Winchester, only to be waylaid by more and more problems along the way. However I felt such a sense of accomplishment when I completed it! I had forgotten the magic spells in this one, and this brought an element of skill and planning that was absent from firetop mountain. An enjoyable book to revisit so many years on.

Basically an advanced form of choose your own adventure the is within reach of being Dungeons and Dragons. I've played through at least a dozen times and still can't find the damn item I apparently can't win without.

The people of Vale of Willow have been under the rule of the evil sorcerer Balthus Dire for almost a decade. Word has reached the village that Dire this is amassing an army of evil creatures and preparing to attack the Vale. You, a young wizard apprenticed to the Grand Wizard of Yore, has agreed to infiltrate the citadel and defeat Dire.

You must choose your path, know when to fight and when to retreat, evade booby traps, and decide which items are worth collecting and discarding. The fate of the Vale of Willow is in your hands!

Not the best adventure book but entertaining nonetheless.
