My friend won this book on Instagram for one of their giveaways, so I had to borrow it to read.

This is super cute book about a kitty going to kindergarten. This would be a good book to read to children around that age.

"Clover Kitty does NOT want to go to kittygarten! Although she might like a friend to play with, kittygarten feels overwhelming for a sensory-sensitive kitty like Clover. And when she arrives, it is exactly as she fears: her classroom is too loud, the lights are too bright, and everyone comes too close. So Clover throws a fit…and decides to quit kittygarten. But when a classmate comes to check on her, she begins to reconsider. Maybe it’s time for Clover to give kittygarten another chance.…"

Heartwarming Tale

This is a sweet, beautifully illustrated story about a little kitty with sensory issues who is starting kindergarten. It does a great job of showing us kindergarten through her eyes - loud, bright, and scary!

But it also ends on an encouraging note: when Clover adopts some strategies (dark glasses, ear muffs and a special blanket) for coping with all those challenges, the other kitties welcomed her back and are completely accepting of her different ways.

Beautiful.

Smart story for sensory folks of all kinds, kitty or human, young and old. I'm glad Clover found ways to feel comfortable at kitty garden.

It's time for Kittygarten to start and Clover Kitty, who is very sensitive to sensory input, is not ready! But go to kindergarten she must and her first day is terrible with all kinds of overwhelming stimuli. This cute book (purrrfect for young cat lovers) shows the world through the eyes of a child overwhelmed with stimuli - the sunlight glares through the windows, the teacher's perfume is stinky, the nap mats are too scratchy for sleeping. And by the end of the week Clover Kitty has come up with some strategies for dealing with all the overwhelming stimuli and having better days in kindergarten. This could be helpful for sensitive kids facing some of the same issues or for neurotypical classmates who want to get an idea of what overstimulation might feel like.

Cute as buttons

This was a lovely little story mostly aimed at young children preparing to or just starting to go to Kindergarten. It can be scary and overwhelming for some, especially sensitive children and Clover represents them. She takes care of her needs and perseveres and in the end learns to enjoy it. Mostly. It helps to have understanding friends.

The illustrations are very well done and quite adorable. I love when Clover holds her nose!

I received this from the Amazon First Reads program.

Charming story about a kitten going to kindergarten for the first time and learning to deal with the sensory overload with adaptations, friendship and time.
Wonderful book to read to children to help them process their own overwhelmed emotions from starting school and help them understand struggling classmates.

Well written

A really good book that shows how some children are not as comfortable in large social situations and different environments. Sometimes you need to work around it and allow them to find their own coping mechanisms.

One too many cat puns for me. Best for four year olds.

I really like how this book can help an adult understand all the sensory things that might be overwhelming for young children. I like how Clover figures out ways to arm herself against the noise and lights and uncomfortable situations. There is very little adult help in the book and I'm not sure if this is a good thing, showing that kids can solve problems themselves, or bad, making them seem uncaring and oblivious.
I like that Clover finds a quiet friend.

Excellent illustrated story. Perforce for someone once starting to read. It is perfect to read to a young child.
