This book, the style of writing just isn't for me and I found it hard to not only follow the characters story but also engage with how he was feeling as it went on.

I felt like it lost steam too many times. Kerouac’s tangents and rants are entertaining but they are hard to make sense of at times.

I can't help but feeling if this was submitted in the contemporary era it would never get published. The dialogue is dated and stilted. The story and plot is nonexistent. It's basically just someone writing about their trip to Big Sur and nothing really happens, there are zero keen insights, and he's just a little paranoid through the end. The added "Sea" poem at the end is just psychobabble. Just not great by any means.
