Way too long. Way too much spice for me.

God damn it this was TOO good. The spice? The tension? The plot twists? THE SPICE?!

I didn’t enjoy the first book all that much so I wasn’t looking forward to this one but it blew me away. I loved Penny and Cooper’s relationship and the way nothing went as expected. No third act breakup, no disapproving girl dad, it was perfect.

This started out really strong and while it was exceptionally easy to read, on reflection, I don't really care.
Sure the characters are cute but I feel that some of the cuteness was lost in translation. I would have found Penny and Cooper a lot easier to relate to if there had been more fluff, more adorable conversations and dates. It felt like we went from zero to one hundred real fast and then they were dating, and other than their very obvious sexual attraction to each other I don't really see how they're compatible when they're not fucking.
Speaking of the sex, there was a lot of it. I don't mind spicy books, hell I've read a few of them over the past months, but this kind of felt with porn with no plot. Or the plot was extremely superficial meant to only fill in the spaces before we could get on to the next sex scene.
All in all, this was a fine book. Easy to read with *slightly* tangible characters that you care for them enough to keep reading. If you want lovey-dovey romance where the characters feel genuinely real and you find yourself smiling at the pages because they're just so darn CUTE, don't read this. If you want a lot of sex, praising and more sex with a little bit of buffer plot to fill in the gaps, then you should read this.

This was better than the first one but the sex was so unrealistic and so were a lot of the inner character thoughts. I’ll try to read the third one because I’m invested but these aren’t well-written books and that’s ok!

This once again proves that hockey romance books are better than American football romance books.

Cooper and Penny had a much more interesting and, might I say, healthy relationship than James and Bex- despite James being a hell of a lot better in accepting his feelings and Bex overcoming her issues to give it a genuine shot with James. You know why? Because both Cooper and Penny are on the same page at all times AND they respect each other's space. No self-sabotaging BS to prove a mute point.

I digress... Cooper is the typical manwhore-y jock hero with a secret heart of gold. Penny is the typical good girl heroine with a bad girl side and a mysterious past. Thus commences our book, in which our heroes agree to be secret fuck buddies, each for their own benefits. Through their physical connection and open communication comes friendship and love, in a very realistic and healthy pace. No big drama here, just to people learning to be in a functional relationship.

Cooper helps Penny overcome her trauma and Penny stands by Cooper's side through all of his issues. Fun to read.

I enjoyed this more then the first, I don’t know if it’s because I love a hockey romance more but I did enjoy both characters a lot! And the baby tangy

The tampon scene, wish I never read it, need men in black to come and erase that memory for me.
Better than the first book but only barely and I just mean there are more sex scenes. That’s all. This is still a copy paste of Elle Kennedy’s books. And I am officially done with reading this series. Rip to the remaining 2 books.
