Hitchhiker was an interesting take on a warewolf novel. It was different in the fact that Daniel didn’t know he was a warewolf and had no idea what was happening to him when he ‘blacks out’. All he knows is that he turns into a psycho killer and always wakes up to find people dead. Daniel ran away after an incident when he killed his father and 2 uncles at 13. The story follows Daniel in the 3 years that follow. There is a lot of dialogue in Daniel’s mind and he meets some interesting characters along the way – some helpful, some sinister. A stray dog befriends him along the way who he names her Lila. His cousin Kayla keeps popping up in his dreams a lot and it takes her for him to realise he is a warewolf. Overall I enjoyed it but felt it did drag in parts.

A quick read and a fun one! Even the travelling and hitch hiking scenes continued to be interesting and never felt dull or repetitive. The ending left a satisfying taste in the mouth for both conclusion and for the cliffhanger of a sequel.
