Despite this novella not really adding much to the original book (Powerless) other than how Adena ended up at the center of the final trial as the sacrifice , it was still an interesting read and see how Adena's character influenced Paedyn's.

As for the first book of the serie, I’m not a fan of the way it’s written. But I am fan of the twists and the characters. I knew what would happen, but deep down I kept hoping that somehow what happened in the first book didnt happen for real (and even though it still happened AGAIN, I will keep hope, leave me alone). I can’t wait to read the sequel!!!

Well, this is one of those stories that you know exactly how it ends before you begin and while you’d think that would soften the blow… it doesn’t. It still hits like a brick. Listening to the inner monologue as she slipped away was one of the most gut-wrenching moments I’ve experienced in a book. And knowing all that she had to look forward to and all that she could have become was all the more devastating. She was so much more than Paedyn’s best friend. She was a smart and powerful girl who would have done amazing things if the world had been a little less cruel. And knowing he was there waiting for her, looking for her… and had to watch it unfold, tore me up even more.
I enjoyed this glimpse into her life and I am so glad we got a short story about her, even if it did break my heart all over again.

*spoiler for Powerless*
I unfortunately couldn't fully enjoy it knowing what happens in the end T.T. I really enjoyed reading Adena's story and I loved how the author brings her to life in this book since we didn't have much time to get to know her in Powerless!! I really liked Mak and Adena's story, and I'm so sad that Adena did not have the chance to tell her about Mak!! I wonder if he will play a bigger part in the next book seeing as He has the same power as Kai. I kind of hope that they don't meet each other early so that Kai doesn't kill him (or the other way) I wonder how Mak will affect the characters in the next book and I am very interested to see how it plays out in the end :) Seeing as we didn't get much time with the characters, I couldn't really give the book higher than 3.5 stars, especially as I went through it knowing what will happen to Adena in the end because of Powerless :(

Loved this novela. Even though I knew what would happen in the end, it still made me tear up. I'm so excited for Reckless, I can't wait to see if Mak is brought back into the main plot.

it took me so so long to finish this book because I was trying to avoid the ending. everyone who's read powerless knows how this ends and I think all of you understand my pain.
I still LOVED it so much. it made me cry and smile.
I hope Mak and Paedyn meet and become best friends in the future and bond over their love for Adena.

I loved powerless and was very excited to get into powerful. I must say that I was pleasantly surprised by the dynamic between Adena and Mak, as it was very different tot he relationships we see in Powerless. But I thoroughly enjoyed it. There’s a lot of funny banter between the two of them and it’s engaging and makes you want to proceed with the story. Since it is a Novela, their relationship does progress rather quickly, but it never doesn’t make sense, it manages to speed up and get to where it needs to be without sacrificing a lot of relationship building between the two of them. I also do personally relate a lot to Adena so I loved seeing her perspective and her story and this book did give me all the more reason to love her.
Due to the short nature of the book, there’s not a lot this book focuses on besides her relationship with Mak which is this books only “set back” to me, as I’d hope to see more interactions with Paedyn but I understand why that maybe couldn’t be possible. Despite that however I did enjoy the mentions of all the other characters from the first book.Kai, Kitt and the king all make appearances and we get to see how they each interact with Adena and her thoughts on each of them. I
Overall, I did enjoy this book and piece of the story, I loved their dynamic, how different it was from the first books dynamics, how they progressed with one another and grew. The only reason I don’t rate this higher is simply because of the fact that it’s short (which is a given) so some things that I may have personally liked to see more of, didn’t occur. But the story itself was beautiful and well written as was powerless and if you’re a lover of the grumpy x sunshine trope I HIGHLY recommend this book to you.
