It was so REPETITIVE and DULL and he could never get to the point! He constantly goes “this is what I’m going to teach you”, “this is what you’re going to get out of this book”, “this is what you’re going to learn from this book”, but I’m well over a fourth of the way through and it’s just common knowledge and things the vast majority of readers would already know prior to picking up this book, such as “if you take time to do things for others you wont have that time to spend on yourself” (multiple chapters were dedicated to this simple fact. MULTIPLE), followed by him patting himself on the back for it. For someone who emphasized WITHIN THE BOOK that this book was heavily packed with information, he sure knows how to add needless padding! Did he need to hit a minimum word count? And for someone who claims to be a “recovered people pleaser” it feels more like he just saw a couple people pleaser characters in tv shows and assumed he knows all about people pleasing because of that for how little he seems to really get it past stereotypes and cliches. Really wish I didn’t waste my money on this book but I guess that’s what I get for impulse buying.

A good read

It is a quick and good read. But do not indulge too much time in it. Such advice requires more practice than reading. There is nothing new in this and you probably will know everything before hand.

I toyed between 2 or 3 stars. The content of the book was helpful and interesting. It was a fairly easy read. However, the author does a fair amount of repeating himself. He also constantly brings up the title of the book or the parts of the book within his sentences, which makes it feel clunky and a bit "salesman" like. But the actual information was thought provoking and something I will apply to my life.

Let's talk about one of the most under-rated books of recent times about Time Management and self-improvement. The book basically teaches one simple strategies one can implement to reclaim time just by saying no. The book is a fine example of how our apprehension and guilt blurs our boundaries and compels us to do things out of obligation. It is important to understand that saying No is not a negative trait. While our upbringing teaches us to be courteous and helpful, it is okay to refuse at times so that you don't overwhelm yourself.

Some of the key highlights of this book are:

◽How to stop being a people pleaser

◽Why we say Yes in situations where we should have said No.

◽Why one should not feel guilty about saying No.

◽How saying no helps us improve our relationships and set both personal and professional boundaries

◽How to reclaim your time and energy by saying No to various people like your family, boss, strangers etc.
