So, so, soooooooo good. Ms. Gockel started out as a fan fiction author and I think the highest compliment I could pay her would be that she makes me want to write fan fiction about this series. The action always moves along at a great pace in this story. I'd recommend this series to those that like fantasy/soft sci-fi or a good (anti) hero story, but grab the first one in the series, "I Bring the Fire Part I: Wolves."

Amy Lewis is called to ADUO's office to identify a magical item. Before she knows it she's travelling between different universes. Universes where Loki's still alive, even though he's not exactly like the Loki Amy used to know. The fate of the Nine Realms are now in Amy's hands.

This is a short novel and "in between"-book. Amy is easy to recognise, but it gets a bit weird when she meets different versions of Loki and the world. In Amy's usual universe Loki died to save the world, and he left her his memories. She's helped by that when she's travelling between universes, but it also makes Amy aware of the small differences in Loki. I also kind of miss Steve Rogers, the head of ADUO, since he appears very little in "In the Balance". I'm looking forward to seeing what will happen in the next book!

A heartbreaking adventure

By now, I feel like I've known Amy all my life. I am happy to have been able to join her on yet another adventure. My heart ached for her with each of her revelations and I can't wait to buy the next story to continue the journey. Excellent work.
