On a rainy weekend in southwest Minnesota, I flew through Rachel Hauck's newest book. I love the premise of five strangers who unexpectedly get invited to a historic library where they find healing, love, and friendship. My favorite story was Jett's - the literature professor and writer who is healing from a failed marriage while also trying to fulfill career expectations and do the "right" thing in a situation that can change the trajectory of his entire work life.

As is typical of Hauck, some things were predictable, others were totally unrealistic and unbelievable, but there were still a few surprises along the way. God plays a role, as He does in all of Hauck's novels, but it isn't forced or extremely prevalent throughout the novel. All of the characters were compelling. Hauck incorporates the concept of story-telling and books throughout each individual's growth in a way that anyone who loves books will thoroughly enjoy. This is my favorite Hauck book to date, and she continues to be a modern-day favorite of mine.

I chose this book as my reward for completing a summer reading challenge at my library. I picked a good one. This was my foray into Rachel Hauck books, and I’m ready for another. This story kept me turning pages because of the way she told the story and the interesting characters. There were relationship elements that I identified with, which made it bittersweet to read. I’m off to choose my next Rachel Hauck book now….

My new favorite Rachel Hauck book! Loved a magical library where healing and friendships happen. Loved being a fly on the wall for the journeys of these 5 characters. I think my favorite was Ed & his testimony of sacrificial love in the face of many hardships. This story made for a really enjoyable Audible listen. And it was fun for me (as an English teacher) that the head of the New York College English Department was named Renee ;)

This book was cute and I loved the characters, but I wish the Christian themes were more prevalent at the beginning. The ending also felt like it was wrapped up too perfectly.

Full review to come on my blog.

Started out slowly, great in the middle, a little too tidy and quirky at the end.

Not my cup of tea. The writing itself seemed cliched while the characters were flat as pancakes. Actually, pancakes have more depth and flavor.
