Rafael Sabatini's "Captain Blood" is an exciting historical novel of the romance, debonair, savagery and swashbuckling experienced by its titular hero. Falsely convicted of treason and sold into slavery, Peter Blood's journey highlights the era's injustices and searches for timely solutions. Although seas battles and a complicated woman are key, Sabatini appears most interested in the moral predicament of Blood, who struggles to maintain an honorable code while living the pirate life.

Pozitivno (pros) - pirati.
Negativno (cons) - tipičan avanturistički roman iz tog perioda, odličan početak ali kasnije radnja postaje previše uopštena.

Definitely a product of its time. It’s a classic swashbuckler, consistent tone, romantic subplot, with a surprisingly satisfactory ending.

Solid adventure. Treason, romance, the high seas--all well-written! Thoroughly enjoyed it.

Not all favourites are littered with annotations, not all are poetic, not all are about delving into the dark recesses of the heart. Some, simply and well told, have you scampering at the early hours, fighting against the dawning darkness. This, this was such a story.

Apparently forgot to update this ages ago. It's a swashbuckling tale and good fun for light reading. Sabatini clearly tried to make it read like a 18th century novel, and I'd say he succeeded for the most part.
