Darkly evocative. The drawings tell the story. I am glad the text was kept minimal for this graphic novel. There is a lot of symbolism to unpack, leaving the reader to reflect long after finishing the novel.

This was a fascinating and intense little graphic novel telling a doomed sailor/mermaid romance tale. It's the kind of book where the best part is the vibes, but the art is lovely and detailed and the story is interesting. I think I personally would have preferred if it had been longer, I really would have liked to see more of the story, but that's definitely my own opinion and others may enjoy as is. I'd definitely recommend giving it a go. I'm looking forward to trying more from the author.

This is a weird little book! The landscapes are stunning, and I really liked the way the author created several full page images but still divided them into panels. It was very arresting. I don't love this style of art for people, but that's a personal preference.

oooh lovely. the sequence with
all the mermaid heads popping up in the sea and watching the ship burn down
was soooo pretty and haunting and drawn out in a way that rlly lets u hang out in that moment as it unfolds. and then it also gets funny and charming w the dialogue :)
+ im always a slut for gorgeous water illustrations

SPOILERS!!!

This is one of the the ugliest and stupidest graphic novels i've ever read. I've seen kindergardeners that draw better. Pointless story the mermaids are just cold and insensitive for NO reason. The guy comes back screws his wife and then goes back to the mermaid to be drowned and eaten by fish?! also theres a part where the mermaids discuss recording an album.... I can't imagine how that would go.
