Woah! What a book! Those twists at the end 🤯

Incredible writing
Incredible story

It was heartbreaking. Poor Yasmin. I cannot fathom the thought of losing 2 children in horrific ways.

I highly highly recommend reading this.

It didn't turned out to be what I expected, however the book is a great read! I enjoyed the author's writing style and it kept me intrigued until the very end.

This is my 2nd book by Kia Abdullah and jeezo this one did not disappoint!

SYNOPSIS:

A simple mistake - forgetting a child in the car - turns into a tragedy when Leila's nephew Max dies of heatstroke. The ensuing high-profile trial exposes family secrets and raises questions about what truly happened, leading to a shocking revelation.

MY THOUGHTS:

- The plot grabbed me from the beginning with such a horrifying start to the story - imagine realising you've left your nephew in the car by accident in the heat! But that's just the very beginning...
- The characters - sisters, Leila & Yasmine - were well crafted into pretty unlikeable people in a way that kept me gripped, you watched the sister unfold following the traumatic events of losing their nephew/son.
- The courtroom drama part of this story is so well done, as you watch the sisters pit against each other and the case uncovers hidden secrets, lies and more about each other as Leila (the aunt) is charged with manslaughter.
- I felt a sense of tense dread that something bad was gonna happen and then I got hit with THE TWISTS!
- Abdullah tackles very difficult themes of grief, child loss, family fallout following a tragedy, and sibling relationships.  Overall it was an emotional rollercoaster!
- This thriller has some of the best twists, that I never saw coming, I've read in a long while!  Never saw them coming!!!

Really good mystery legal thriller. I honestly had no idea where it was going to go and then the twist after twist was just so good. The sisters and the husbands such unlikeable and then likeable characters. It was very easy to read and fast paced. I like the element of the different kinds of women in this book too. There isn’t one sister I liked more than the other, both felt insufferable but I actually liked that part of the book.
