Michael Connelly has a way with his words and through his writing I am able to picture everything in my mind. His characters are well developed, and there is always more to the story than what meets the eye.

The first two thirds of the book is incredible. Nearly flawless execution. But maybe I've just read too many. I knew who was going to die and I knew what was fabricated. Additionally, Harry makes a move which is very risky and I felt out of character.

Fast intense page turner. Great nightstand read and a good replacement for watching crime series on Netflix before sleeping. Finished it in two sittings! Characters are sturdy, straight forward and uncomplicated. Story is palatable and has enough twists to keep you turning that page. This is the first Harry Bosch I read, although it's #12 in the series of books. It's outlined well enough that you don't feel you're missing out on 11 previous books.

If you like the Rogue hero cop and shady city (in this case LA), then it's worth your time!

Bosch sniffs out corruption in the LAPD as he tries to solve a 13-year old murder. Fast-paced but a slightly anticlimactic ending.
