Usual good story of Joe Pickett and Wyoming. This one has his MIL arrested and accused of murdering her 5th husband and asking her 4th husband to help her have him killed. It also has background of wind farms and the use of windmills as well as Nate searching out the folks that used a rocket launcher to destroy his cave dwelling in the canyon. The folks using the rocket launcher made the mistake of killing Nate’s love, Alisha instead of Nate.

I really liked this book; it was more satisfying than the last book, which ended with a distressing disagreement between Nate and Joe. This one on the other hand ... pretty surprising ending!

I’ve lost track of which number in Box’s Joe Pickett series this is, but this is one of my favorites. Box uses contemporary issues and events in his novels and protagonist Joe Pickett is called on to solve the crime. And crime, there is. The latest husband of Joe’s mother-in-law, Missy, was found hanging from a wind turbine on a mountain and she is the prime suspect.

Missy had motive for the murder and there is real possibility that she did it. There are twists and turns amid the tale and I was totally unprepared for the last two pages. I will re-read this one, after I run out of the series.
