Danielle Evans is the blueprint for brilliant short storytelling.  She distills the huge issues of race, class and gender in contemporary America into poignant, funny, relatable stories. Her characters are real, flawed, deeply sympathetic from the achingly young to the baffled middle-aged.

This was a reread for me in light of her latest book and I enjoyed as much as I did the first time I read it ten years ago. Just well constructed, well written short stories and to see her continued growth on The Office of Historical Corrections was just so satisfying.
