Perhaps it's not enough to have read some of the Sandman series. As a wrap-up, this maybe expects me to have read them all, and recently. It expects me to know all the characters, and recognize them from a drawing style that is, well, less reader-friendly than some. That matters more than it might in another story, because the point of view jumps around quite a bit.

You wouldn't be reading a Sandman 9 if you had a problem with gore and violence and horror, and some of it is rooted directly in the underlying mythology - but gosh, there's a lot of rending and eyeballs and guts and gore. Just so you know.

The ending may have been inevitable, but it didn't really work for me.
Spoiler Dream becomes such a Gloomy Gus that I was glad to see him leave the stage.
. Which isn't necessarily a criticism. I never expected him to pull out his gleaming sword, hold it up, shout "I Have The Power!" and go hack Skeletor to death again.

I loved the modern art style and illustrations in this book. Getting to see the characters all come together and finally tie in was cool. What gets it a four is on the publisher. The fact that the introduction to this book spoils the book for the reader is a travesty! How dare they! After all this build up and then to walk in knowing that Morpheus is going to die and that Daniel is going to take his place. I deserved to get to see that happen and that was taken away from me.

Nice to continue the Sandman journey. This one had some interesting parts and some scattered parts.
