Plot
Short Story included in the back of 'Chain of Iron' shows what Magnus and Jem were doing during the events of Chain of Iron. Magnus and Jem go to the spiral Labyrinth on a joint mission.

Thoughts
Only 13 pages long, so there wasn't much to this. I like Magnus and Jem, and always enjoy reading about them individually and their friendship together. I know the next book in The Eldest Curses trilogy deals with The Black Volume of the Dead, so I'm sure the events of this will be mentioned during that - as the issue the pair are dealing with relate to that book.

I love Jem and Magnus. And the reference to the Infernal Devices in the title... I love it <3

"Well, no offense, Jem said, but I expected an atmosphere that was more - "Decadent?" said Magnus. "I am a complex being of many layers, Bother Zachariah."

This was lovely and such a good end to the book after you have been crying for a whole hour. Jem and Magnus and two of the most beloved characters in these books and their relationship in this short story is as fun as you would spect.

This bonus story is also a way to add detail and depth, not only to The Last Hours, but to The Dark Artifices series as well. And I, being a sucker for pointing out every single detail that can be linked in Cassandra's stories, enjoyed [b:One Must Always Be Careful of Books|57296815|One Must Always Be Careful of Books|Cassandra Clare|https://s.gr-assets.com/assets/nophoto/book/50x75-a91bf249278a81aabab721ef782c4a74.png|89664793] very much. It's a cute and fun story, it adds information to other books and even the title itself is a reference to a conversation.

You must not skip it!

Something terrible was happening in London, and he couldn't help it; part of his heart was there.

This was hilarious and a bit like a fever dream. Honestly, there is nothing I want more than getting to see more of the Spiral Labyrinth, I hope Cassie actually features it as a location in any of the upcoming books. I loved getting to see Jem and Magnus together, even if the story itself was very confusing, what with the Book Golem of The Dead. This for some reason gave some serious "Rick Riordan concept for a book" vibes. I just wish it wasn't so open ended.
