Kicking off the new year with a five star read always feels good!!
Wonder Woman: Historia is everything everyone says it is and more. A reimagined history and origin story for the Amazons of Themyscira through a distinctly female lens, I very much started crying multiple times through this book.
The story of the Amazons is often echoed in Wonder Woman comics, a brief summary of a sliver of Diana’s life. Not only do readers get to experience and understand where the Amazons come from and why in “Historia” but we finally get more about Hippolyta, a legendary figure in her own right and eventual Queen of the Amazons. Not only that, but we get a sweeping, complex portrait of a figure who is usually relegated to a supporting role in Diana’s story - I pray that James Gunn takes inspiration from this book and it’s sequels for his Amazon tv show.
The art is stunning, inclusive, and so brilliant you could decorate the walls of your home with it. The thought and care put into Wonder Woman: Historia is an example I hope the comics industry recognizes going forward.

10 stars! I'm blown away. Each panel is... a wonder, a beauty to behold. My goddesses, DC have outdone themselves. Historia has taken story and art to a whole other level. Seriously, a MUST READ for Wonder Woman fans.

Really loved this, from the art to the writing. It felt like the start of an epic and I'm excited to see how it develops.
