Thrilled to find a new children's book that I love: The Two Hearted Numbat. Written and illustrated by Ambelin and Ezekiel Kwaymullina from the Palyku people of the Pilbara region of Western Australia. Not only are the words powerful, but the illustrations are striking!

Amazing points of discussion about power, identity, and (as dramatic as it seems) finding comfort in who you are. It resonates especially given our recent discussions about gender and what it means to be an "empowered woman".

I've always thought that at the end of the day, girls should be proud to be what society deems as "girly", and we need to change the perspective that a "strong woman" is simply a woman who acts more like a man. There is always strength in being gentle when the situation calls for it.
