The prose in this book ... magical, evocative, flows so beautifully across the page. Hoffman at her best breathing life and magic into everything and everyone.

When I started this book, I didn't think I'd like it. By the time I finished it, I was in tears. It is beautifully, simply written.

I love Alice Hoffman. I remember reading Turtle Moon in college and was instantly in love. I've read all her books and continue to be amazed by her lyrical writing.

I really enjoyed this short book and felt it was a parable of 911 -- maybe that isn't what she intended, but it must have been what I needed it to be.

Depressing premise, but well written and not an overall downer. I was thrown off by the split story at first but actually really enjoyed the format in the end. I also liked the suggestion of magic without actually calling it such.
