When I read Pt.1 I was really torn whether I preferred this to Miller's Year One, but this clinched it for me.. Zero Year is superior to Year One. Admittedly I'm still not the biggest fan of the colouring, it's a little lurid, with a lot of magenta, but I can get past it. With Gotham subject to the doctoral rule of a criminal mastermind, with a penchant for riddles *hint *hint*, it's down to Batman to suit up and save the day. The narrative kept you engaged, there was a great character arc for Bruce, and I'm not ashamed to admit that I almost shed a tear at one point. Give me more Snyder and Capullo!

So part two was amazing, maybe not as heart-wrenching as the first part but for sure worth a five-star rating to me. I am so excited about these new Snyder books, cannot wait for the third one.
Why did I love this edition so much though???
The last three pages, where Alfred envisions an alternate life for Bruce, just broke my heart.
The Riddler as a villain is my favorite of all the Batman villains because Eddie is an egotistical twat honestly and there's just something so funny to me about that, especially his relationship with Selina (cannot wait until that is introduced in these books) and he was who this whole collection was about. It was so scary to me he got so far, far out, he's meant to be kinda incompetent but oh no, not incompetent not at all. Glad he got his arse kicked.
And mostly through this whole story, I was picturing playing (being in) the Arkham game series solving Riddler's riddles and saving the world of Gotham and I just loved it. I'm a dreamer, wholeheartedly and these books enriched that whole thing.
I can see myself giving these books high ratings right through but I'm not super critical and don't claim to be any sort of comic genius but part two, it was moving, it drew a tear, I laughed, so five star from me. I'd rather just enjoy a thing you know?

3 out of 5 stars.

This book was okay.

I wouldn't say it's anything special, especially when it comes to Batman, but it was a lot darker than I was expecting it to be. Mostly because the main villain of this one was the Riddler.

I don't know. Maybe I don't know enough about the character to make a proper judgement, but he's always seemed more of a comical villain to me. I guess I'm just blinded by Jim Carrey's version of him. Eh.

Either way, this book was a pretty quick read and I wish Eaglemoss would send me Volume 3 already. Hell, I wish they'd just send the bastards out in Volume order because I'm starting to get pretty freaking bored of waiting.
