A fabulous look at how color impacts the movies we watch in a myriad of different ways, Fascinating, enjoyable and a feast for the eyes.

Wow, this is such a beautiful book. If you love movies and photography, this is a must read. It’s interesting to learn more about the recoloring process and also the infographic color palettes are very useful. I really liked it.

First nonfiction book I’ve read in a while, and I loved it! I loved the use of colors next to the pictures from the movies, and the descriptions were great. I was happy to see a few of my favorites, and a few new movies to add to my watchlist. I do think that because each movie got the exact same amount of description, some descriptions suffered. Some felt like they were trying to say a lot in too small of a space, and others felt like they were trying to meet a word count when there wasn’t much to say.

very stupid and short and surface-level. in some essays the colors weren’t even mentioned at all and it instead gives you a convoluted summary of the plot. “dissected in this book”— what dissecting?! would’ve been better if it was organized by color and tried to develop a cinematic language of meaning, as it stands it’s the equivalent of a book of (mediocre) letterboxd essays. not even about color.

I really enjoy watching movies, but moreover, I love exploring cinematography in films, so this one was a must-read for me. It's a really beautiful book that explores the role of colors in 50 different movies. The only drawback for me is that I wish there were more than just 50 films.
